The Housing Crisis
-
The Need is Urgent
160 affordable units will be needed in South Huron alone to meet demand by 2051.
-
Affordability is Out-of-Reach for Many
From 2018 to 2022, house prices rose 104%, rents 88%, but wages only rose 19%. That means many households can’t afford to own or rent a home.
-
Housing is Key to Attracting Talent
Affordable, quality housing is key to attracting and retaining skilled workers. Housing is the number one barrier to hiring for Huron and Perth employers according to the Four County Labour Planning Board.
